TOYOTA ON TOP AFTER APRIL HOLIDAYS

May 3, 2017 By Toyota Australia.

Toyota's HiLux has reinforced its popularity as Australia's best-selling vehicle with a strong market-leading sales performance in the holiday month of April.

HiLux returned its best April sales figures in five years with the reigning sales champion achieving a tally of 3,430 vehicles for the month.

The result has cemented HiLux in top position on the 2017 sales chart with 13,763 deliveries - a gain of 6.8 per cent over the same period last year.

HiLux was joined by two other Toyota favourites among the month's top-10 best sellers with Corolla reinforcing its position as the nation's leading passenger car and Camry recording its best April since 2008.

As a result, Toyota's total for the month of 16,090 vehicle deliveries was almost four-per-cent higher than the combined totals of its two closest rivals.

In the first four months of 2017, Toyota dealers have sold in excess of 64,600 vehicles, which is 2.4-per-cent higher than at the same stage in 2016.

Toyota now has a margin of more than 25,500 sales or 65.2 per cent over the nearest competitor for the year so far.

Executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said Toyota's April result was even more impressive in the face of school holidays, the Easter break and Anzac Day.

"HiLux and Camry returned their best April results in years, underlining the broad appeal of vehicles that are highly regarded throughout Australia," Mr Cramb said.

"Toyota's LandCruiser Prado and LandCruiser wagon are also the leading sellers in their segments while our newest vehicle, the dynamic C-HR, is being driven out of dealer showrooms as quickly as we can import them," he said.
