Corolla Extends Sales Lead

Toyota Corolla has extended its lead as Australia's best-selling car with a market-topping performance in July, according to official new-vehicle sales figures released today.
Almost 25,000 Australians have bought a Corolla so far this year - an increase of 13.2 per cent over the same period in 2012.
Toyota dealers delivered close to 4,000 Corolla hatches and sedans last month, taking the popular family car further ahead of its nearest sales rival - which is another Toyota.
HiLux retained second place on the podium with its 2013 tally approaching 23,700 sales including almost 3,000 registrations in July.
Overall sales for Toyota so far this year have clicked past 123,500 - or more than double those of its nearest rival.
In July, eight Toyota vehicles - Corolla, Camry, 86, LandCruiser 200, HiLux 4x2, HiLux 4x4, HiAce van and HiAce bus - were the best-selling vehicles in their segments.
Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the company would continue to monitor the impact on sales of the FBT proposal.
'We have already experienced customers holding back from placing new orders until the FBT situation is clarified,' Mr Cramb said.
'At the same time, the success of Corolla and HiLux have been instrumental in driving Toyota's sales to more than 17,400 for July and a market share of 19.3 per cent,' he said.
