Toyota Enters 2013 At The Top
Feb 5, 2013 By Toyota Australia.
Toyota has begun 2013 with market-leading sales that are more than 50 per cent higher than any other brand.
Dealers sold 13,375 Toyota vehicles in January - a margin of 4,463 over the nearest rival.
This was despite stock shortages for some models following Toyota's sales surge that resulted in more than 59,000 sales in the last quarter of 2012.
Corolla (2,960 sales) and
HiLux (2,747) continued their popularity with local motorists last month, once again being among the top three sellers.
Improved supply of the award-winning 86 sports car resulted in a record 608 deliveries for the dynamic, affordable coupe.
Prado and
Yaris topped 1,000 sales each for the month while
LandCruiser 200 and
HiAce bus were the best-selling vehicles in their segments.
Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said the industry's buoyant sales pace in 2012 had extended into the new year.
'It was a great start to the year for Toyota, especially as it followed our year-end push and January is usually a slower month,' he said.
'SUV sales, which have continued their remarkable growth, will receive a boost later this month with the arrival of the new
RAV4 range.
'We expect arrivals of in-demand Toyota models to improve during February and March, enabling us to record another year in excess of 200,000 sales.'
