Toyota Sales Grow Two Per Cent In January
Feb 5, 2014 By Toyota Australia.
Toyota has started 2014 with a year-on-year sales hike of two per cent and a strong position as the best-selling automotive brand in Australia.
Official figures released today show local motorists bought 13,645 Toyota vehicles last month, an increase of 270 sales compared with January last year.
Toyota's tally was 45 per cent ahead of any other brand - a margin of more than 4,200 sales.
Corolla and HiLux took podium places on the national sales chart as the top sellers for Toyota with 2,913 and 2,544 deliveries respectively.
Other Toyota vehicles that topped their segments were locally built Camry, 86 sports coupe, LandCruiser 200 4WD, HiAce van and HiAce bus.
Toyota's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said Toyota's January sales were 2.0 per cent ahead of the pace established in the corresponding month last year, lifting market share by almost a full percentage point.
"It has been a strong start to the year for Toyota with gains in sales and market share, which are pleasing ahead of the introduction of an all-new Corolla sedan this month and an all-new Kluger SUV next month," Mr Cramb said.
"Toyota is well placed to record another year of more than 200,000 sales, which would result in a 12th consecutive year of market leadership," he said.
