Toyota Camry: Best-Selling Local Car

Toyota Camry was Australia's best-selling locally built car last month as the popular sedan continued its strong performance on the back of a substantially upgraded range released in May.
Buyer support for Camry lifted Toyota's overall tally for September to almost 16,600 vehicles.
This placed Toyota 5,730 sales ahead of the nearest competitor for the month, a leading margin of more than 52 per cent.
As the market leader, Toyota is nudging 150,000 sales for the year so far (149,653) while no other company has reached 90,000 sales.
Camry's total of 2,522 sales - a gain of 16 per cent over the same month last year - included 1,939 petrol and 583 petrol-electric hybrid versions.
The results continue Camry's march to a 22nd consecutive year as Australia's best-selling mid-size car. It is also Australia's top-selling hybrid vehicle.
Corolla has retained its hold on the title of Australia's best-selling car in 2015 with more than 3,500 sales in September.
This advances Corolla to a total of just over 31,900 sales for the year so far, giving it a margin of more than 2,300 deliveries over its closest rival.
Toyota vehicles that led their segments last month were Camry, the 86 sports car, Prado, LandCruiser wagon, HiAce van and HiAce bus.
Toyota's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the company was planning a strong push during the final quarter of 2015 with a wide range of new and improved models.
"The all-new eighth-generation HiLux range with 31 variants has just arrived in Australian dealerships this week," Mr Cramb said.
"New HiLux is tougher than ever with a locally developed rugged suspension and underbody package in addition to global advances including a stronger frame, more rigid body and new high-torque diesel engines," he said.
"HiLux is also being praised for the comfort and convenience of its interior - including features described as 'luxuries' for utes like standard air-conditioning and tablet-like audio touchscreens."
"Later this month, Toyota will launch its latest SUV, Fortuner - a vehicle noted for its prodigious off-road ability as well as its seven-seat SUV style and comfort."
"We also have a new, more powerful engine in Prado; and upcoming safety and other advances for LandCruiser 200 Series and RAV4," Mr Cramb said.
