Toyota vehicles named 'top picks' for consumers
Aug 6, 2013 By Toyota Australia.
Six Toyota vehicles including the locally built Camry Hybrid have been named as top picks for new-car buyers by the Carsales editorial site motoring.com.au.
Toyota's Corolla family car, RAV4 SUV, 86 sports car, LandCruiser 200 Series and Prius v hybrid wagon also made the list of cars the site 'recommends'.
Cars achieve this status on the basis of performance, refinement, handling, suitability for purpose and value for money.
Resale value, reliability and factors such as warranty and the availability of benefits such as capped-price servicing are also considered.
To the end of July this year, Corolla is the best-selling car in Australia while Camry Hybrid is the countrys top-selling hybrid car, the 86 heads the sports-car market and LandCruiser 200 is dominant in its segment.
The new-generation RAV4, introduced to the market in February, features - for the first time - a turbo-diesel engine which has proven popular among consumers.
Prius v arrived last year as Toyota expanded the Prius range into a family of three cars, joining the third-generation Prius hatch and the Prius c city car.
Carsales editor-in-chief Mike Sinclair said the recommended vehicles are the best of breed in their respective segments and represent canny choices for new-car shoppers.
'The motoring.com.au crew drives literally hundreds of cars each year - new releases, both local and abroad, seven-day tests and longer-term reviews that replicate the ownership experience,' Mr Sinclair said.
'We've used this knowledge to name our top cars, so new car buyers can short-circuit their research and fast-track buying decisions,' he said.
TOYOTA VEHICLES ON THE 'RECOMMENDS' LIST:
Family cars <$30K: Toyota Corolla
SUVs <$50K: Toyota RAV4
Performance cars <$100K: Toyota 86
Offroad 4x4s: Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series
Green cars: Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Prius v
