Toyota gets QME rolling
Jul 28, 2016 By Toyota Australia.
Toyota is front and centre at this year?s Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition (QME) (July 26?28) having signed on as ?Official Vehicle? for what
has grown to become one of the country?s biggest regional mining events.
Held in the industrial hub of Mackay every two years since 1993, QME brings together a diverse mix of suppliers and operators from across the resources
industry, and for 2016 Toyota has supplied organisers with an ?unbreakable? HiLux SR and Fortuner Crusade to help keep the show running smoothly.
This year over 200 companies are showcasing the latest mining and engineering technology supported by on-site demonstrations, industry-specific forums and
networking opportunities.
Toyota takes a central position with a 72-square-metre outdoor display stand featuring a new-generation Toyota HiLux SR.
Launched in late 2015, almost every aspect of the eighth-generation HiLux has been strengthened, including a thicker frame, stiffer body, new high-torque
turbo-diesel engines, advanced six-speed transmissions, beefed-up suspension and brakes, and expanded off-road ability.
Towing capacity is now up to 3.5 tonnes[sup]*[/sup] on manual 4x4 versions of the turbo-diesel SR and SR5, while payloads are up to 1240kg[sup]#[/sup] on
the 4x2 turbo-diesel Workmate, with 23 of new HiLux's 31 variants confirmed as genuine one-tonners, including all 4x2 variants and all 4x4 single and extra
cabs.
The HiLux on display is also equipped with an ?Industry Options? Genuine Accessories pack.
The pack is built around a heavy-duty steel tray featuring a standard storage/tool box, window protector, tail lamp protectors and mounts for a light bar
and flag as well as optional slide-out step, grab rail, quick-release ladder rack, tie-down rings and mounts for a fire extinguisher and spare tyre.
The tray body structure has been tested to strict Toyota standards for load as well as surface and lateral shift; not to mention water and salt-spray
analysis for optimal drainage and corrosion performance.
Other Toyota Genuine Accessories available include high-performance lighting, a range of industry-specific safety-elements, specialised electrical system
upgrades, and pre-wiring for an in-vehicle monitoring system.
Positioned alongside the ultra-tough HiLux, a dedicated Toyota Genuine Accessories trailer offers information on everything from factory-developed Bull
Bars and Trays to Genuine Tow Bars and safety equipment ? all developed to meet the demands of workers in the harsh and often remote locations of
Australia?s mining and exploration industries.
Another Toyota highlight at this year?s QME is Queensland?s own Gall Boys. Regular visitors to the Toyota stand, the top-end adventure and Toyota-loving
brothers are closing in on 20 years of film-making, releasing their off-highway exploits on DVD and online http://www.toyota.com.au/toyota-tv/gall-boys.
And finally, an interactive display on the Toyota stand highlights the risks posed by counterfeit parts, and the importance of ensuring Toyota Genuine
Parts (which deliver substantial safety, performance and durability benefits) are purchased from authorised Toyota dealers.
The QME runs until this Thursday at Mackay Showground (#QMEexpo).
