Off-road technology helps Prado conquer rough terrain
Oct 19, 2009 By Toyota Australia.
A heap of state-of-the-art driver assist technologies on Toyota's new LandCruiser Prado will make its off-road performance even more impressive.
Due for release in Australia next month, Prado is packed with on-board guidance and technical support to help even novice off-roaders go bush with confidence.
Toyota has boosted Prado's four-litre petrol engine with dual VVT-i for more power and torque, and has improved all 'round performance for a smoother ride.
CRAWL control, or 'off-road cruise control', means Prado does all the braking work while you concentrate on steering picking the right line through rough ground.
An electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) helps smooth out the ride on rough surfaces.
Multi-Terrain Select is new technology for Toyota and Prado and gives you options for slip control settings suited to different ground surfaces.
These surfaces can be viewed from your driver's seat thanks to the Multi-terrain Monitor, four external cameras that show six areas of ground around the vehicle.
A new Steering Angle Display in the instrument panel shows where the front wheels are pointing, more helpful information for plotting a safe route.
