Toyota Corolla, Camry in shape for sales titles

Corolla and Camry are on track for major sales triumphs in 2013 with just weeks to run until years end.
Corolla, a perennial favourite among car buyers, topped the sales charts again in November to stretch its overall lead to 1,734 sales in the race to be crowned Australias best-selling car for 2013.
This year will be the first time Corolla, or any Toyota, has taken the title barring an unlikely blow-out in December.
Meanwhile, Camry is odds-on to record its 20th consecutive year as the countrys top-selling mid-size car.
The Australian-built sedan now has an unassailable lead of more than 14,000 sales while its closest rival is averaging fewer than 660 sales per month.
Toyota is equally certain to retain overall market leadership for the 11th year in a row as the best-selling automotive brand in Australia.
To the end of November, dealers have delivered more than 195,000 Toyota vehicles to local customers 92,000 ahead of any other company.
Toyota Australias executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said he was not ready to claim victory for Corolla despite being quietly confident it would be confirmed as Australias best-selling car.
Corolla has always been popular during its 47 years on sale in Australia with well over 1.2 million cars sold here more than any other Toyota in our history, Mr Cramb said.
Since car dealerships opened on January 2 this year, Corolla has chalked up almost 40,000 sales in a close battle for sales supremacy, he said.
For Camry, though, its mathematically impossible for any other model to come between our locally built hero and a winning streak that began way back in 1994 as the countrys best-selling mid-size car.
Similarly, Toyota is set to extend its unbroken run of market-leading annual sales that began in 2003 a winning streak that has not been achieved by any carmaker in more than 30 years.
For November, Toyotas tally of almost 18,100 vehicles delivered to customers was 72.7 per cent higher than the nearest competitor.
In addition to Corolla and Camry, other Toyota vehicles to lead their sales segments for the month were the 86 sports car, LandCruiser 200 SUV, HiLux 4x2 and 4x4, HiAce van and HiAce bus.
