New Prius firsts
May 19, 2009 By Toyota Australia.
New Prius will be jammed with technology and have the lowest CO[sub]2[/sub] emissions in Oz - of less than 100 grams per kilometre!
As if that wasn't significant enough, improved power (20 per cent increase) and better fuel economy (10 per cent saving) are also major selling points.
The new technologies are impressive and focussed on minimising the car's environmental footprint.
Starting with the hybrid technology, it's smarter, lighter and more efficient, with a new electronically controlled system for recovering energy from braking.
In a world-first, Prius will feature a remote air-conditioning system that functions on battery power alone.
Third-gen Prius is the first Toyota with dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system, intelligent parking assist and a completely belt-less engine.
Solar panels on the roof power a ventilation system, and some of the seat-cushion foam is plant-based.
Toyota says Prius owners will enjoy greater driving pleasure while having less impact on the environment.
